Robins Farrier Service
Robin Powell
Happy to be your Farrier in Quinte West, Trenton, Belleville, Stirling-Rawdon,
Brighton, Colborne, Campbellford and Prince Edward County.

Welcome to Robin's Farrier Service

My name is Robin Powell and I graduated from the Advanced Farrier Science program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in 2009.

During that year, I focused on learning equine anatomy, forging, hot shoeing and corrective shoeing. The program was very in depth and was taught by master farrier Gerard Laverty. Gerard is a Journeyman farrier who has completed his Therapeutic Endorsement and is a  Associate Fellow of the Worshipful Company of Farriers of London, England.

I apprenticed with a number of Journeyman farriers including Andy Bishop and Hank Mcewan who was inducted into the horseshoeing hall of fame.

Before I went to school to learn the science of horse shoeing, I believed that my career would be influenced by the school I chose, and the teacher's who taught there. I scouted out schools near and far and settled on one the furthest away. I wanted a teacher who expected excellence and one with high credentials. These skills have been passed down to me and I approach every job with the high expectations of my mentors.

During the summer of 2009, I represented my school as floor crew at the World Champion Blacksmith Competition at the Calgary Stampede in Calgary Alberta. I was able to meet and talk with the worlds best farriers and watch them compete.

I am a member of the American Farriers Association and the Ontario Farriers Association.
